One of the main reasons that kids return to Miriam summer after summer is the indescribably powerful feeling of inclusion they experience at camp.

We are an intentional community. That means we strive to actively develop programming where everyone – from the youngest camper to the most experienced staff member – is welcomed, respected and made to feel valued. We do this in a variety of ways.

We provide camperships to families who otherwise couldn’t afford a Jewish camping experience. We practice Kupa, pooling our resources and making collaborative spending decisions so everyone is on equal footing. We actively support inclusion based on gender, race, sexuality and class status. Finally, we provide a safe and age-appropriate space to explore relevant social justice and equality issues and movements like #MeToo, Black Lives Matter, climate change and Israeli politics.

The enduring legacy of the Miriam community is the many, many lifelong friendships that have been forged over the summers.
