This Role is Especially Suitable for Someone Who:
- LOVES children and youth and their amazing energy
- Is flexible and happy to work in a youth-led/directed summer camp in a beautiful and rural location
- Is either: a new grad who want to gain valuable and multifaceted independent work experience; a Nurse Practitioner student in between semesters; an experienced nurse looking for a change of pace.
Duties Include:
- Providing primary health care on site at camp, supported by two medics and a doctor
- Meeting the overall health needs of the campers and staff within nursing practice guidelines with strong onsite support from medics and volunteer doctor on call
- Administering medications
- Triaging ill and injured campers and staff
- Maintaining accurate and confidential documentation for all care provided
- Supervising quarantine for Covid 19, gastroenteritis or other outbreaks
- Communicating with parents, medics, volunteer doctors, and local health care professionals as needed
Credentials and Experience:
- Current BCCNM license
- Current CPR/First Aid
- Occupational First Aid Level 2 (completed prior to start)
- Emergency First Aid preferred
- Pediatric and/or emergency nursing experience preferred. Mental health experience or training would be an asset
- Clear criminal record check (will be asked of successful applicants)
Compensation:
- Salary: $1200-$1400 per week depending on experience for the duration of employment. Full summer employment is 9 weeks
- Cost of transportation within BC to and from Camp Miriam
- On-site accommodations & full board

Time Commitment:
Full Time, live on site for the employment duration (ideally for the full period, from Monday June 17th through Thursday Aug 22nd, 2024.)
