Legacy FAQ

builders & dreamers: Legacy giving faq

A legacy donation is an estate gift intended to perpetuate something of great meaning to you. Estate giving is a form of stewardship for the future. It allows you to use some of the assets you have accumulated during your lifetime – like savings, investments and retirement plans – to make a lasting difference.

Our Legacy fund will create an endowment (managed by the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Vancouver) that will generate the yearly resources needed to ensure we can continue to provide scholarships and maintain and improve Camp’s infrastructure. You can decide to allocate your gift to the area of greatest need – which will allow us to direct your support to our most pressing priorities. Or, you might choose to designate your gift to a particular project. It’s your legacy and your choice.

Anyone who loves Camp Miriam and wants to support Jewish youth-leading-youth empowerment and meaningful summers at Gabriola can sign a Letter of Intent indicating that they will remember Miriam in their will or other similar document. By signing the letter of intent, you are automatically included in Miriam’s Builders & Dreamers Legacy Society and will become a permanent part of Miriam’s future.

No! Anyone can become a member of the Camp Miriam Builders & Dreamers Legacy Society by pledging to support camp’s future sustainability with a planned gift, whatever the amount.

Share your intention, planning and actualization of your gift to Miriam and joining the Camp Miriam Builders & Dreamers Legacy Society with your family. We encourage you to tell others your story. Share the impact that Habonim Dror and Miriam have had on your life, the values it reflects that you hold dear and would like to see passed on to the next generation and why you decided to make a commitment to include Camp in your will.

Your single act of planning a legacy gift cements the enduring connection between you, your family and Miriam.
