Special Days

Every day at Camp is special – but some days are even more spectacular, and surprising, than others!

Yom Meuchad
Once a session, campers wake up to a camp that has been transformed overnight. In place of their counsellors are characters from one of their favourite movies, books, or TV shows and the dining room has become a set from that same show. So begins wacky day of fun and games where the possibilities are endless and pretty much everything is out of the ordinary.
The best part of Yom Meuchad is that it’s a surprise – while campers eagerly anticipate it, the exact date is a well-guarded secret. As the day progresses, so do the plot points of the theme. The day is filled with special foods, treats, and creative activities like mazes and water fights. It is often capped off by launching a villain into the pool and celebrating with a raucous dance party.

Yom Madatz
On Yom Madatz, Miriam’s counsellors in training get a chance to plan and run an entire day of programming – and this is no regular day! Similar to Yom Meuchad, Yom Madatz is super fun day of surprises, usually themed on a movie or TV show.
This day is a huge opportunity for Madatz to practice the leadership skills they have honed throughout the summer and for campers to experience these young leaders in action. It’s a huge summer highlight – filled with games, challenges, competitions, and lots of energy. Yom Madatz is a close tie to the most anticipated days of the summer with Yom Meuchad. Only campers can determine which theme day was better.

Bonim Bash
Bonim Bash gives an opportunity for camp’s oldest campers to put into practice all the leadership skills they’ve learned over their time at camp. They do it by planning and organizing one of the best activities of the summer. The Bonim (entering Grade 10) coordinate every detail of a special half-day at camp, including choosing a theme, organizing costumes, decorating camp, and running fun activities for campers. This is youth empowerment and responsibility in action, and it is an amazing thing to witness and be a part of. The younger campers love seeing the older kids they look up to in leadership roles, and the Bonim are often surprised and pleased to realize how many skills they have learned.

Yom Israel
Centred on Israel and its history, politics and culture, the exact theme for Yom Israel changes every summer. But one thing is sure; when campers wake up on Yom Israel they are no longer on a sleepy island, but have been transported to the bustling and noisy streets of Tel Aviv, Jerusalem or some other Israeli locale. It may be modern day, or it might be a blast from the past – regardless, campers have opportunities to bargain in the markets, eat falafel and meet some famous Israeli figures. They learn the history and culture and gain a deeper understanding about Israeli life and its complexities.
